I can't believe it's already July. June was a fun month for me. I learned a lot about myself as a player - specifically, that just because you are practicing well doesn’t mean that you are entitled to success. I had an amazing 5-week training block after Uzbekistan and while I was in peak physical shape, I thought that my matches in Winston Salem were going to be easy since I was practicing so well in the leading weeks. This ended up not being that case, but I have reflected on those tournaments and I am now moving on to the most exciting season for my tennis, the American summer circuit. Over the next 5 weeks, I will be playing in 4 tournaments. All of them will be ATP Challengers and I will be signing up for the Newport ATP250 as well (my first time playing at that level).
My summer circuit begins in a place that is very special to me and my family, the AC Nielsen Pro Tennis Championships, held in Winnetka, IL. It is held at the courts where we won multiple High School state championships, my team and I ran many sprints, and it is a place where I developed long-lasting relationships with many people I care about. I have so many close friends and family members come out to support that is is by far the highlight tournament of my year.
It would make me so happy to see all of my Chicago support crew come out this upcoming week for this amazing event.
P.S. - If you sign up for the Pro-Am then I may actually be able to be your partner!
After Winnetka, I will be traveling to Newport, Rhode Island to play on a grass court event. After Newport I will head to Binghampton, NY followed by Lexington, KY. After these tournaments, my team and I will reevaluate where I am and hopefully, new career highs are in the making!
